Why Use a Scaffolders Safety Harness Kit
Does you job include using scaffolding? If so then try our scaffolders safety harness kit.
Working at height is usually necessary when working on construction sites and in the roofing business. Scaffolding is commonly found in these areas to gain access to high levels.
As the worker will be carrying out tasks at height it is imperative that height safety equipment is used.
For these reasons Lifting Equipment LTD has put together some scaffolders harness kits. These will have a full body harness, safety lanyard specifically for connecting to scaffolding and a carry bag.
Scaffold Harness Kits Available
All our height safety kits use Kratos equipment which is all fully tested and certified. Conforming to the necessary standards so you can be assured of the highest quality and safety. All harnesses can be used safely by wearers up to a maximum 140kg or around 22 stone.
Single Point Harness Kit
This kit has a full body harness with just one steel ‘D’ ring anchoring point. It is located in the Dorsal area, ideal for arresting a fall. There are 5 steel adjustment buckles. One on each shoulder strap, one on each thigh strap and one on the chest. The multiple adjustment points enables the harness to be fitted perfectly to the wearer.
2 Point Harness Kit
With this safety kit the full body harness incorporates 2 steel ‘D’ rings for attachment. One is located in the dorsal area (rear/back) and one in the sternal area (front chest). The 2 points give you more versatility. There are 5 steel adjustment buckles, 2 thigh, 2 shoulder and 1 chest, pulled tight they will give a great fit to this universally sized harness.
3 Point Harness Kit
With 3 attachment points this full body harness is the most versatile, there are two sternal steel D ring attachment points and one rear, dorsal attachment points. This enables the wearer to be anchored from both sides of the chest and or at the centre back position. Multiple lanyards could be used for optimum safety.
When it comes to adjustment points there are two steel pull through buckles for adjusting the shoulders. The chest strap and the thigh straps have quick click automatic type buckles which can also be adjusted for the best fit. Two sizes are available , small to large or large to XX large.
The Safety Lanyard
Each of our kits utilise the same safety lanyard. They incorporate a shock absorber in the form of a strap which has a controlled tear to dissipate the forces/energy implied by a sudden fall. These shock absorbing properties can make all the difference in minimising injuries that can be caused by safety harnesses during a fall.
Our lanyard choice the Kratos FA 30 304 18 is 1.8 metres long with a steel scaffold hook at one end and a screw locking karabiner at the other.
Always inspect the fall indicator label prior to each use, if you see a NOT OK message then DO NOT use as this indicates that the lanyard has already arrested (had the shock absorber deployed).
30mm wide polyester webbing is used along with a 35mm wide webbing in the energy absorber. This ensures the impact of a fall will ne less than 6 kN.
Carrying Your Kit
Your harness and lanyard will always be used in tandem so they should always be kept together, ready to go. A hold all will be supplied with each kit to enable this whilst also keeping your kit clean and protected from potential damage caused by sharp objects.
The single point harness comes with a draw string bag whilst the other two kits will have either a rucksack/backpack type or a carry bag/holdall.
