Delta DY Chain Block Features
The Delta DY or Delta Yellow chain block as it is often referred to as, is for use in vertical lifting tasks and has some purposeful features.
The outer housing is particularly robust thanks to its double casing. This gives the internal elements protection against external shocks as well as water and dust ingress. This can be detrimental to the efficiency of the inner workings, particularly the bearings.
Both top suspension and load hooks are drop forged with cast safety latches. They also completely swivel around for easier loading. On the hooks you will see some measurement markings. These are used as a safety indicator for overloading, the hooks will open up gradually if they are overloaded. So they should be checked before you use the hoist to ensure they are within the safety range.
All chain sprockets, gears and shafts have been precision machined and together with the high quality bearings smooth operation is optimized.
On the safety side of things the Delta DY chain block incorporates an automatic load brake consisting of two friction discs and pawls.
Galvanised chain to EN818-7-T is used for the load chain as well as the hand chain to provide optimum protection.
These manual hoists can be safely used in temperature ranges from minus 10 to plus 60 degrees C.
Why Choose the Delta Yellow Chain Block
These hoists are supplied with a one year warranty (limited), test certification, declaration of conformity and trackable serial number. The Delta DY has been proof loaded and conforms to the machinery directive 2006.42.EC.
Offering straight from the box use you can be up and running in minutes, a light oil of the chain and you are good to go. Remember to check the manufacturers instructions to ensure you use the hoist correctly and safely.
All in all the Delta DY manual chain block offers a robust, easy to use and cost effective lifting device. Supplied by a highly regarded company, Lifting Equipment Ltd at usually unmatched prices. We also supply a range of other Delta lifting equipment including electric hoists, cable pullers, beam trolley, plate lifting clamp and bottle jack.
Pre-Use Checks and Future Maintenance
As with the majority of lifting equipment, no matter what its condition or use is you should do a visual check over before the chain block is used. Look for anything which could cause issues with its safe function. This could be cracked or stretched chain links (do not use – replace) or damage to the hooks including safety catches (do not use). Do a test lift initially to make sure operation is smooth and the brake engages as it should.
If in doubt do not use, get it checked by professionals. We can help with thorough inspections (required by law) and repairs, carried out by our own trained engineers.
