Round Sling Details
Just like our Duplex flat webbing slings these round slings come in the industry standard colour coding. Purple for a 1 tonne, Green for a 2 tonne, Yellow for a 3 tonne, grey for a 4 tonne. Red for a 5 tonne, brown for a 6 tonne, blue for an 8 tonne and orange for 10 & 12 tonne.
The reason for this colour coding is so that a slings Safe working load can be quickly identified from a distance without the need for finding and reading labels. However all slings must have an information label with the SWL, identification numbers, CE marks, Manufacturer details and even how they can be used safely.
Round Lifting Sling Features
Round lifting slings are made from a continual loop of polyester material, there are no joins and no lifting eyes.
The polyester material is made into a tube where high tensile polyester fibres are threaded through. Whilst the outer sleeve layer provides protection and stability and some strength the inner core provides most of the strength. Together they make a super strong lifting sling which is easy to use. It is also comfortable to handle thanks to its softness.
Round slings are probably the best type of lifting sling when it comes to load protection. So if you are handling more delicate loads that you do not want marking then a round sling will be more gentle on the contact surfaces and up to the task.
Other key properties of a round lifting sling are their wear resistance. They also have low elongation/stretch properties thanks to the nature of polyester.
Using a Round Sling
A round sling can be use in a number of different ways. Straight lifts, basket hitches and choke hitches are easily achievable. What’s more both basket and choke style hitches can be carried out in a variety of ways. Including where angles to the lifting sling occur, although typically with a reduced SWL.
